“Expectancy: Effort → Performance (E→P)

Expectancy is the belief that one’s effort (E) will result in attainment of desired performance (P) goals. Usually based on an individual’s past experience, self confidence (self efficacy), and the perceived difficulty of the performance standard or goal. Factors associated with the individual’s Expectancy perception are self efficacy, goal difficulty, and control. Self efficacy is the person’s belief about their ability to successfully perform a particular behavior. Goal difficulty happens when goals are set too high or performance expectations that are made too difficult are most likely to lead to low expectancy perceptions. Control is one’s perceived control over performance. In order for expectancy to be high, individuals must believe that they have some degree of control over the expected outcome.”

Love. One of the many essential elements of one’s life, yet taken for granted at times. Like some other phenomenon, it’s somewhat unexplainable. It is something you feel, given, received. To love someone. To be loved. To be in love.

Being in love is the best part. Yet it can hurt. There’s the good and bad times. It takes you on a ride of highs and lows. Like a drug, sometimes. When you’re high, life seems like rainbows and butterflies; optimistic and nothing can bring you down. At times when the effect wears off, it can send you crashing down. Shattered into pieces. But when it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside again, and the rainbows and butterflies return, you kinda forget how you’d crashed many times before. Why? Because it’s all in the name of .. love.

Love. Any kind of love - a parent’s love, sibling love, friendship, romance. Whatever or however you define it. Often, you’ll realise you’re missing it only when it’s gone. The fear of losing it completely, makes you somewhat irrational - momentarily.

When things start to not go your way, trying your very best not to crack under the pressure and high standards you’ve set for yourself. You only got yourself to blame. They say, to avoid disappointments, don’t set expectations. There’s some truth to that. But if you set realistic expectations and goals, you’ll be able to accomplish those goals with a certain value attached to it. A sense of what people call, achivement. And that motivates you. Drives you into action to accomplish even more.

But what happens when you set realistic goals, and yet, you don’t seem to be hitting that target? You keep falling short. Each time you fail the climb up, you stop. Take a breather. Look around and realise it’s the wrong mountain you’re climbing.

So what do you do?

Pleasantly surprised to find this waiting on the table when I reached home. A little encouragement and thank you note from older sister for helping her the other day. :D
Such drinks bring back memories of Papa and growing up days.

I like to bake. Naturally, whenever I bake there will be extras and somehow I tend to give away extras for free (how to become a businesswoman like this?). People like to receive free stuffs, especially food. Lucky enough for me, I have friends who are willing to be taste testers. :)
This time, I tried making the cream cheese frosting for the cupcakes. Two flavors: original and coffee. The chocolate cupcake with coffee frosting combination was a hit with the cousins and friends, although I was quite surprised that the boyfriend found the frosting too sweet. Not so sure about the strawberry cupcake with the original frosting combination.
I wish I had a kitchen space, either commercially or at a warehouse; to try out the different recipes and ‘experiment’ with the different combinations. My own R&D ‘lab’ of sorts. That will be awesome and ideal. Perhaps, the first step for me is to attend a formal course on baking and whatnots?

Sister’s engagement day. So it is a malay custom for the exchange of gifts between the lady and the guy during the engagement ceremony. Took the opportunity to ‘experiment’ with rolled fondant for the first time, and as a result, producing a box of cupcakes as a gift. It was a hit, thankfully.
And to clarify: I DID NOT choose/select the flower prints for the edible label. I had to use them because it was already provided and  as requested by the ‘client’.
